I have a quick question: the fundamentals book is only needed for the 1st semester? I was thinking of renting it on Amazon just for the 1st semester.

There are a couple of chapters you may need for med surg but honestly as slightly expensive as it is I would get the e-book through the link sent by the school. It includes the practice question program prep u and while as far as I know basics doesn't post assignments there that count for points it is a very good resource for practicing nursing style questions specific to the material covering. Sometimes it can go into too much detail but if you go by the material covered in class and disregard questions that aren't pertinent then you'll be fine :)

I'm going into med-surg now and I was wondering if you had any advice on trying to get ahead, I'm trying to read ahead before the semester starts. Any advice on what chapters I should be reading first?
