Just cwondering if anyone else has a CNS that works with them in their ER. We have one starting in the ED soon, told by management her job role "is yet to be defined". This is new for the whole hospital, they have several CNS starting in different areas throughout.

Just curious if anyone has experience with a CNS and what they do in your facility. Thanks. :D

I want to know a CNS role from those who practiced in hospitals?

Clinical nurse specialists in the Ed are responsible for policy adherence/development and education. Depending on the facility of they are seeking trauma status, stoke status etc they will develop the plan write the documents/grants. They give education and training for triage, conscious sedation, trauma, chest pain protocols and so forth. The set up traing for these tyope of thing look for improvement in the process. Introduce new equipment, talk about preservation of criminal evidence rape kits and so on.
