CNO evaluation process, I need help !

Published

Dear nursing colleague

Im an IEN moved recently to Ontario and following now with CNO for my RN evaluation.

For now I’m registering for StFX University Distance Nursing Program to complete my educational gap for 6 topics, hopefully will finish by May 2021. by that time, my Evidence of Practice will be expired April 2021. Can I have the correct advice how to renew the clinical practice, I need to plan things a head kindly. I have reached few universities & colleges, and no one can offer Clinical placement/training for me.

Thank you for kind advice.

@H_T thanks for advice im aware of this option but im illegible for this as still.having education gap and language profiecency missing also not having NCLEX yet. Many thanks

Try registering with any US state. they will give NCLEX eligibility fast. If u pass US NCLEX CNO will meet education competencies. Many IENs are now doing that way

I was in a similar position regarding clinical practice, but luckily I could return to practice in my home country to meet the requirement. If you choose to stay in Canada, you will most likely have to do a full program with 400 clinical hours as part of the course. Otherwise, you can practice in your country of registration if still holding registration there for as small a period of time as 1 day. I kid you not! I nearly fell off my seat when I was discussing this with the CNO on a phone call. As long as you can provide a RN job description with how many hours worked, flight tickets & boarding passes, stamped passport showing entry and exit, a letter from the nurse manager stating how you met or did not meet the RN responsibilities as outlined in the job description, evidence of registration from the nursing board.

I returned home and worked for 5 days and after the CNO reviewed all relevant documents I met the requirement.

Best of luck as you continue through the process and congrats for getting to this point. It seems like a neverending process

Is this  really  correct ?  I'm  surprised  and its good news .

I  received    a  reply  from  CNO  that I have  to   do 600  hours . I'm planning  on returning  to  my  country  to   do  that amount of hours.  So its  good that you shared  that information  that I could  do  a  few days

Thanks  for  that  information it helps  a  lot.
