CNL

Published

Hi all,

so there is a thread for umson applicants for the fall of 2014, but it seems to be more BSN applicants. I'm wondering who else is in camp CNL with me. I'd love to trade notes about plans to finance a MSN, reasons you picked CNL over another option, prereqs, admissions stats...and anything else you're interested in.

I know I can't be the only one! Where my CNL hopefuls at?!

Yay!! It's so good to hear positive feedback! I also love the idea of a CNL...and I know that they are being implemented (albeit slowly) in the state, but I feel like the overwhelming majority of allnurse participants don't support the role...which I don't get. I wonder if bsn/asn RNs feel threatened by newcomers with higher ed? I fully expect to start out as a noob, I just have dreams of advanced practice some day in the future.

Anyone else schedule an interview yet? They told me decisions will likely go out in mid-April.....now playing the waiting game.

I just got my interview email on Friday. It was so nerve wracking to know a friend of mine already had his interview, and I hadn't even gotten a date yet. I was certain I was going to get a rejection letter. Thankfully, I am interviewing next week.

Hi all! I also applied but didn't get an interview yet :( At this point I'm feeling very doubtful about things!!

One of my transcripts was shown to have been signed for by their office before the deadline and I had to resend it, so it just went to committee ready last week.

Ugh, I just want an interview!! It is my top choice!

I had to resend 3 items and my application too just went to committee ready last week. I wouldn't lose hope yet. Again, I just got the email on Friday. Fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted.

Congrats wvuek! I've heard that interviews usually mean you are likely to get an offer, so good luck! Let us know how it goes :)

What's your background like, 219? Do you have experience in healthcare? Good grades? I think they might be doing interviews until the end of March, so don't lose hope yet!

Also, did anyone else think it was weird that they asked for academic recommendations instead of professional ones? Considering that I've been out of school for some time, and working, I was scrambling to get in touch with old professors.

Overall gpa= 3.35, Pre-req= 4.0, research coordinator at acad. med center for 3.5 yrs. We'll see what happens...

Are you guys hoping to ultimately work as CNLs or hope to do an NP route in the future?

Also thanks for the encouragement! :)

You're welcome! Also, based on what you mentioned, I'd say you seem competitive (at least to me)! So I bet you'll get an interview. Have you called admissions to check? Nicole and Angie have both been super friendly and helpful to me throughout this whole process. If it will give you any peace of mind, I'd call and ask about the interviews. :)

Hey,

Looking for fellow Fall 2014 UMD CNL applicants. Anyone had their interview? I had mine over the phone this morning. Asked when decisions would be made and she said mid-late April. I don't wanna wait! WHat else is one everyone's mind?

That would be marvelous if true! Where did you hear this from?
