CNL program at University of Maryland

Published

Hello,

I am thinking about applying CNL program at University of Maryland for Spring 2010. My concerned is about my GPA which is low (including prereq = 3.3 ) I am wondering is there any chance that I will get in? is anyone that you know that get in with this low gpa?

How many applicant for each semester?

THank you,

Blondell

You would be much better off to just attend the BSN program. They will require you to get a minimum of a "B" in all of your classes as a CNL. But, most of the classes you take are the same ones taken by the BSNs. The only difference is that you have to pay about 3 times as much for the same class, and you have to do at least one term paper, that the BSNs do not.

They play games on many of the assignments, and because of this, you often end up with a "C" grade on assignments. So, if you do not do well on exams, you could end up getting a "C" in the course, which happens to a lot of students, and then you have to repeat the course before they allow you to take any further courses in the program, which sets you behind by one semester each time this happens.

They will only allow you to repeat a course once. If you fail to get a minimum of a "B" on the second attempt, you are thrown out of the school and you can never apply again.

Also, employers want BSNs as entry level students, not CNLs.

Do not waste your money, just apply to the BSN program, which you can more easily pass. Then, after you obtain a year or more experience, apply to a MSN program (not CNL) that actually does something for you. The CNLs just end up working as BSN nurses, but have a much more difficult program, pay three times as much as the BSN program, etc.

Best of Luck
