I am thinking about applying CNL program at University of Maryland for Spring 2010. My concerned is about my GPA which is low (including prereq = 3.3 ) I am wondering is there any chance that I will get in? is anyone that you know that get in with this low gpa?

How many applicant for each semester?

THank you,

I think I made it. I am oversea right now so I definitely didn't get a call but got the email from the school on Friday 13 said that I am in and my status had change to admit-institution. Congrats to everyone who get in and for anyone who are still waiting I wish you all luck. See you in January

Blondell,

Same here - 16 months. See you in January. I need to come down from my "high" before I can think about the MedCal.

Feb. 1 is the latest your application portfolio must be complete in order to have what is called "priority consideration". That means that UMB will process all the applicants as of the deadline. If they are able to fill the class from that group late applicants will likely not be considered at all. The essay is, in addition to showing that you can write, is your opportunity to sell yourself - to showcase your commitment and passion for the profession. Tell why UMB should pick you. And don't forget to highlight any healthcare experience, volunteer or paid, in your resume.

thank you so much. that was really really helpful!!!

everything i've read previously has been so helpful.

i'm wondering if anyone out there was rejected from the CNL program at UMB and reapplied. if so...did you reapply to the CNL program or instead apply to the Traditional BSN program?

i'm asking because i was rejected and i want to (re)apply again for the fall, but want to increase my chances as much as possible. if anyone has any suggestions or had this happen to them i'd appreciate it! thanks so much.

and congratulations to all those accepted for spring :)

I'll be starting the CNL program Spring 2010. Several people have posted asking about the differences in the BSN and CNL program. When I went to one of the information sessions, they said that both their BSN and CNL graduates get the same type of entry-level jobs to start (which makes sense). However, they said that the CNL's advance more quickly and further, starting about 12 - 18 months after beginning work. Also, if you are fond of letters after your name, CNL is a professional designation and you have to pass an exam to earn it. So, you could be either an "RN, BSN" or an "RN, MS, CNL."

If I remember correctly from the information session I went to, you can apply to the MPH program and then defer starting for at least a year so that you can get some real-world work experience first.

Hi Slatey75,

i received an interview invite for the UMB. I applied for the CNL against Spring 12. Please could u throw me some light on what this interview process entails. What are they looking for? I am elated I got slated for an interview, but am a little nervous now, did not schedule yet. Please get back to me. You could let me know if you would prefer a private conversation. is there anyone out there in my shoes? Thanks!
