There is this lady at my facility everytime she see me she would ask me how many days you work this week...this month. Today after she praising me that I works more day this month and about a minute later the nurse supervisor telling me to go home. How coincident could it be? At first I thought she is just kidding so I ask her why and she said that they have more staffing. I'm very upset when she telling me to go home because I'm not sure if it true that they have more staffing or is it b/c she heard that I'm talking to the other lady about I'm having more days this month that's why she sending me home and call someone else in to replace me. Also today I have the easy group of patient and I finish one hour early before my lunch break so I just walking in to checking on my patients many times like that and then walking up and down the hallway at my station to see if anyone need help or answer any call light. Could this is the reason why they sending me home early? I was sending home half an hour before my lunch break.
If it true like what she said then that's ok with me but if it's not I would be very upset about it. This is the first time I was sent home early and before I don't know if they ever sent anyone home or not b/c I have never seen or heard about it.
Can someone please let me know if this happen at your facility or hospital. Have you ever seen or heard someone was sent home b/c they said they have more staffing?

Yes cna's and nurses are sent home if "not needed" in many facilities.

Yea, this especially happens in hospitals where staffing depends on the census.
But I've never worked in a hospital, and I've never worked in a facility that was overstaffed. Now understaffed is a totally different story though

It happens.
Usually people with the most scheduled hours gets sent home first. Saves the company money.
Sometimes if I picked up an extra shift I got called off.. Eventually I just called them and said I was available to be a call-in. That way I just stay home and be awake all night like i did anyway and waited for the call lol.

Sometimes, there are errors in the schedule. At times, there is one extra person added on the shift. So the Nurse manager would ask people before they go on "Do you wanna work today?" If everyone says 'yes', then the NM would draw a name out of a hat to dictate who goes home. So lame!

They send you home because they have scheduled per diem's or agency staff which has t be paid . They should only send you home if you have sick or holiday time
