CNAI course and A&PI together?

Published

Hey folks,

The school that I recently applied to requires that all nursing students obtain their CNAI certification before taking any nursing courses. I just received a postcard that says that the next 2 CNA courses begin in August and both end around the middle of October.

In the meantime, I want to enroll in A&PI, which of course stretches out over the semester.

So now I have a few questions.

1. How difficult would it be to take the CNA course and A&PI in the same semester?

2. Just to see what your reactions would be, how difficult would it be to take the CNA course, A&PI, and Micro together? Keep in mind that I'm just enrolling in pre-reqs, so I don't have to worry about being a FT student again for a while (thank God! I still remember staying up until 5 AM for one of my chemistry finals in undergrad). If it's at all possible to take A&P and Micro in the same semester, and if I got into the nursing program in January, then the only pre-req course that I'd have left is A&PII...which means I'd have an "interesting" spring 07 semester, but then I'd be done with all the pre-reqs. What's one semester of extreme pain and hades? :)

So, experts, friends, pals...what do you say? Thanks for any input :monkeydance:

Well, my CNA class was a breeze - we had very little outside work, and what we did have was easy. The most important part was understanding the hands-on stuff we did in class and of course the clinicals. So I don't think CNA and AP1 will be a problem. But I'm not so sure about sticking Micro in there as well. Micro is my last science class and I'm taking it this fall so I can't really say how hard it is. But those will both be challenging classes that involve a lot of studying so it probably just depends on how much time you can devote to it and how good you think you are when it comes to sciences. Most schools don't recommend taking more than 1 science a semester, but I know a lot of students who've done it.

This probably didn't help, but it's my 2 cents worth!

I actually think that taking CNA course with A&P would be a good thing. CNA is not that hard. And if you take A&P you can be learning about the body while taking your CNA. go for it

Thanks for the responses. I feel a lot more enthusiastic about taking both courses simultaneously :)
