Cna hopeful, has been working her little tail off as an HHa. And here I was, worried that I couldn't find a job with decent pay.. Although, I make GREAT money, I am merely a "glorified maid". I also get 10-99'd at the end of the year, which may bite me in the a@s, later.... I also don't get Social Security taken out either, therefore, if I don't take a little out of each check every week, I'll be working at 70yrs old. I don't get paid for mileage, It's a tax write-off at the end of the year and so are all the supplies I have to purchase. But when you owe back child support like I do, you don't get back squat......Now tell me, is this still a good job. And did I mention I travel approximately 50 miles to and fro 6 days a week????? What do yal think? I have yet to practice any of the "cna skills" I learned in college.....It's like I finally know how to do laundry, sweep, mop, and vacuum. Oh and wipe behinds'. But I have yet to do any vitals, baths, or wound care.........But it's a job. Thank GOD, I am going back to college next fall for LPN.. Im ready to work in a hospital setting....:banghead:

This is why I work with an agency. Most of my clients are hospice or Parkinson's. I also get assigned to facilities. The hospice clients usually need the most cares and I use more of my skills. My agency gives me challenging cases and they pay taxes etc...

Yes, I do clean and cook. I do more cleaning, mostly because I hate sitting.

We can always strive to help people be more independent, safe, clean, while ensuring dignity.

On the down, I don't take home as much as a free lance HHA.

Good luck in school and remember, you are part of why folks are still in their homes.

Don't assume that because you get an LPN license, that you will get a job in a hospital.

What do you mean?? What can you tell me please? I would appreciate any input........:tku:

Hey cna hopeful,

It's nice to see you posting since I've remember your post of studying hard to pass your cna exam.

I too got my cna exam recently and am looking into a job (very soon).

For lpns, or lvns (here in cali), you will have a difficult job finding a position in hospitals (although there are some that still hire them!). Unless you live elsewhere where lpn's are common in inpatient (hospital) settings, I recommend preparing for nursing homes and such.

There are many schools here in Cali that have many new grads graduating every year or half a year. So the nursing homes are competitive too (for all CNA, LVN, and RN's).

But for now, I hope you find a better fitting agency that can help with your situation! There are plenty of agency's in Cali that are pretty flexible!

Yay!! I actually have a "full" day off, to myself... It has been 3 months or so, since I have been able to get on a computer. So, I apologise for the length of time it took, to reply to your message. I now am in "limbo" about going to LPN class right now. I am working so much, that the money Im making is great (for me anyway). Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I really don't have to work. My byf makes a killing. But I do have to say, I have to ask myself everyday, why I took this job, as an hha. My patients are "horrible" to me, yet they claim I am the best girl they've ever had. But I think I'm in ov er my head with the amt of hours I put in. I work Everyday (except Tues) from 8am-12midnight. I am exhausted. Take care.:nurse:
