CNA training in the Capital Region/transfering CNA from out of state?

Hi all!

I'm thinking of getting my CNA before taking the RN plunge ;) I really want to get some hands on experience/exposure to the kinds of environments I'm hoping to work in as an RN (and to see if I "can take it" :p) and lots of people have recommended the CNA route. The only problem is I can't find a program nearby! I live in Troy, NY right now and have access to a car, so pretty much anywhere in the Capital Region will work.

I know the Red Cross offers training, and I'd definitely like to train at some place as reputable as the Red Cross, but my local one doesn't offer the course. The closest Red Crosses that offer it are in VT (only about 45 minutes from me, so not too bad) and MA. Does anyone know if its possible to train at a Red Cross as an "out of state" student, or if its possible to work in NY with a VT or MA CNA license?

Thanks!!
