CNA Student Need Advice

Published

My wife and I are currently taking a CNA course this semester. We are wondering whether or not we should take our Chem 1 class or drop it and wait until next semester.

It would put us behind a semester, but also I'm nervous that the CNA workload might be too much.

We can either take the Chem 1 class now or drop it and take two online classes that have nothing to do with out major. The reason why we need the two extra classes is so we can have enough units for financial aid.

Really need advice on the smart decision.

Our goal is to become an RN and get our BSN, but were taking the CNA course as experience

I don't know you and the work load you can manage, but I'm going to bet you'd be okay doing Chem during your CNA classes.

My CNA training was pretty easy, a lot of common sense and memorization.

I think it varies though. My CNA classes weren't through a college.

I'll bet you'll be okay though. What I'd do is talk to some CNAs who went to the school you'll be going to and ask if they found the class to be difficult.

CNA course is easy. If you have a handle on science, you could do it.

Specializes in Long term care.

I think the CNA class is pretty easy and common sense stuff.

You can expect to need very little study time for CNA classes...even with no care giving experience.

Find out when your clinical classes will be for the CNA class to make sure they don't collide with your other classes...my clinicals were different hours than what my classroom time had been.

Specializes in mental health / psychiatic nursing.

I took my CNA course while taking other classes. CNA training takes very little time outside of scheduled classes and clinicals, and I personally found most of what we covered to be pretty common sense stuff. If the only other course you are taking is Chem 1 it should be a very manageable load.

I'm taking a CNA class along with Developmental Psych, College 101 and Chem this semester while working full time. I do have an easy job where I can do school work at work though. Are you guys working full time while going to school?

CNA is mostly common sense. You should be fine to take Chem 1 especially if you have a support system. I say go for it!

CNA is pretty easy. You should be fine to take other classes alongside it. It's great that you and your wife are taking classes together - mini study group right there :-)
