CNA to RN...

Is it a good idea to become a CNA first, then an RN? What do you think? Has anyone done this?

I went for my CNA/HHA while working on prereqs and am working as a HHA. I absolutely love it. Because when I start getting frustrated with school, I can look at my HHA job that I love, and know that being a nurse is something I definately want to do.

I also think that working as a CNA really opens your eyes about what nurses do.[/Q

Change diapers, and give old people showers?

Well as you study and learn nursing, you begin to realize it's about a lot more than changing diapers and giving daily cares----but those are IMPORTANT parts of what we all do. So much information about the state/wellbeing of our patient can be culled from the mundane tasks like daily cares. You will see this as you become a nurse, should you choose to do so. Trust me.
