CNA and "The Plan"

Published

I will start a CNA Program august 31st:yeah:. i live in Los Angeles Ca. i have been volunteering at Planned Parenthood for about 3months. because i missed the deadline for my local hospitals. Once i am a cna should i look for work in a nursing or hospital? i will be trying to start work as soon as the program ends. My goal is to become a Registered Nurse.

"The Plan"

1.Become a CNA and volunteer at a hospital. (im volunteering at a clinic now)

How long should i work as a CNA?

2.Enroll in a LVN to RN bridge program.

Do you think working as a CNA during the day and school at night would be a good idea?

all of your suggestions and support is more than welcome. :nurse:

You need to be an LPN/LVN before you can enroll in an LVN to RN bridge program.

It's pretty hard to go to work and THEN go to school every day. You will be so tired and it will be difficult to focus on the material being presented. Going to school and then to work tends to be easier on your brain.

thanks for the info!!

No matter what if you have to work, you have to work and if you got to work before school, you gotta do what you gotta do. Ive done it, its hard but its doable

Your plan is good but if your going to be CNA why not just go straight to being an RN? Skip the LVN, its time consuming and kind of a waste. I don't know about where you guys live but here, they are getting rid of LVN's. I thought they were everywhere but I might be wrong.

I would save myself time and money and get your nursing aid cert, then get into an RN program. (thats exactly my plan lol)
