CNA/PCT schools in NYC?

Published

Hello all,

I've recently decided to kick off a 2nd career and try to become a nurse. I'm currently enrolled in school to take my pre-reqs. Given that this will take a year to a year and a half, I wanted to become a PCT to get some exposure to the health care field during this period.

Are there any CNA/PCT schools that are reputable in the city? Anyone have any experience with them?

I've gone and visited a few of these and have been surprised by what I've found. It seems only private, for-profit institutions provide CNA/PCT classes. In looking at online reviews, nearly all of them have a significant amount of dismal feedback from former students.

It's difficult to get trustworthy perspective on on taking this first step. Does anyone have any advice regarding options for a school? Thanks

Specializes in nursing student.

nassau community college has a Patient care technician program. im currently going to school to get my medical assistant certification so I can work in the healthcare field while I complete my prereqs for nursing school.

It's been a few months, what school did you go with?

I went to ASA in Brooklyn. It was fine, no complaints. It taught you what you needed to know for the CNA test
