Nursing Students CNA/MA

I don't want three people on the floor

i want two

let me explain. Months ago a coworker of mine quit leaving a max of one person per hall. Recently a new hire working 12 hours ( I think) was added on night shift leaving 3 people per hall

why do I not like it? Its not going to last, and I don't want to get comfy with 3 people

am i weird? Do you think like this

You can "vent" all you want, that doesn't mean people are going to agree, are going to respond a certain way, or are going to coddle you. Plus even if you're just coming here to vent and, as you said, "whine a lot here," hopefully you can learn something from those who respond.

and dont worry i have c:

i feel like ive become a better cna for it

As an aide (mental health / CNA) - I'll take the extra help any time I can get it. I don't care if it's for a shift or a year.

I kind of get where you are coming from. A few years ago it was decided we had the budget to hire another nurse and another CNA and new positions were created. Even though we all survived OK without it, it sure is nice and now when for whatever reason we don't have those people it really sucks to work short!

I get what you mean about having something but waiting for the other shoe to drop, ie anticipating when staffing will suck again.

BUT just think of all the things you can get to now with another person on the floor that you can't without them. Maybe there's a cleaning project that housekeeping never gets to that has been driving you bonkers. Maybe you want to reorganize or re-label the supply/utility rooms. Maybe you have a resident or patient that is always up all night and they want to do an art project or redecorate or reorganize their closet or what-have-you.

Or MAYBE staffing has just been so terrible that you haven't had a lunch break in a year which is extra annoying because you would have used that time to study. The world is your oyster; you may not know for how long, but use the time while it's there :)
