Changing careers and I have a few questions.

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I am looking at switching careers and going back to school for nursing. I am currently working on getting signed up for a Nurse Assistant 1 class.

I am hoping I can get into a local hospital after I take my test. What department(s) would you recommend if I was lucky enough to have a choice?

Thank you for your help.

Let's not count your chickens before they hatch. You will most likely end up working in a nursing home. Hospitals are not easy to get into especially as a brand new CNA.

I understand that, I am looking down the road....

Hypothetically, if you had a choice, you should pick whatever specialty you plan on pursuing as a nurse. There's no sense in working in adult med-surg if you plan on working in peds ICU, just as there's no point in working in OB if you're interesting in geriatrics.
