I am having the hardest time getting a full time job. I am in a career change. I was a mortgage professional for 26 years, I got my CNA in June, I am hoping to get into SUNY Farmingdale Nursing program by 2011. I need to take prerequisits first. I am 57 so time is of the essence for me. I must have sent out 100 resumes. I was hired part time weekends at Our Lady Of Consolation and Holly Patterson, I obviously can't take both. From origional interview to orientation for HP was 3 mos, for OLC it is 6 weeks. Biggest problem I have. If I take the weekend part time job, no benefits because it is 16 hours, I can't even work per diem anywhere else becuase a per diem position has mandatory weekends. How do you get a full time job as a CNA, do you have to work part time and take home health care positions, until you get the 1-2 years experience required? I am respnsible conscientious, smart, caring. I have seen many CNAs in hospitals and I wonder how they ever got hired. Many are great but some are really not. Does anyone have any tips on how to get hired?
I am pretty sure it is 6 mos-1yr, most likely 1 year, They are partners with Suffolk Community College, for lpn-rn program. The hard part is getting an LPN. I am trying to find a school, that I can get into without biology math and chemistry, Boces is the only one and they are not flexilble. Farmingdale College has 12 month lpn program. But there is a waiting list and not all are accepted. You need Bio, Chem and Math
