CNA job

U.S.A. Maryland

Hi,

I am interested in knowing if i can retest out (Exam) in order to renew my cna license. Am not sure how MD handles this issue. I was a CNA for about seven years while in college. After i got my degree, i never renewed my license so it has since then been expired for more than two years. After, having kids, i have now decided to go back to nursing school. I have taken all my pre classes and only waiting to take my ACT exam to get in. While i was waiting, i thought to go back to and referesh my memory as a nurses aid. But in order to do that, i was asked to go back to school and retake the whole nursing aid class....which is so expensive.

So my thoughts on these issues at hand are should i go back and retake the classes again and incurr all that bill that i could have used for my nursing school or do i wait to just get into the nursing prgm and my nursing training experience over the years will come to me? Are there any free cna training classes out there? Or can i be able to test out on the CNA (nurses aid) exam? Please help and advise as i am really confused here.

There aren't any free classes that I can think of. I am doing the PCT program at AACC. It's one semester and you get your CNA certification if you pass and qualify to sit for the GNA exam. It's around $700 total. It's cheaper than a university and Red Cross. Or you can wait until you start a nursing program and after the first semester sit for the CNA state exam. Check out the board of nursing website to find out if there is a retest you can take.

Thanks a lot for ur response. When u said "wait till i get into the nursing prgm and after one semester, sit for the cna exam" what do u mean by that? Is there a way to do that? Advise please. Thanks a lot.

Usually after taking Fundamentals of Nursing you qualify to sit for the CNA exam and that is after the first semester in the nursing program. It's a cheaper route but not really the shortest because you have to get excepted into the program. You can't take the class without being in the nursing program.

You are such a darling. Thks for ur quick response. If that's the way i have to go..then i prefer that. more cost effective that way. Are you a nurse?

Sorry it took me a while to respond. I've been without internet for a few days. I am not a nurse but I've been researching the field for a couple of years solid so I know exactly what I'm getting into. There are many routes to get to where you want to be. I've researched many colleges (private and public, university and community), many side programs, types of certifications, a lot. I don't know everything but I know enough to get you started.

Sorry for the inconvienience of not having ur internet . I know how it can be especially in these days where everthing is digital. How then can you get me started. Your advise was really very welcomed. Am interested in what your views or findings have been. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.
