CNA Clinicals, Group Home?

Published

Hi I am currently taking a CNA class in Missouri and have to have 84 hours of clinicals completed before I can become state certified. I work at a group home as a Level 1 Medication Aid and Nursing Assistant presently and honestly the work that I do an LPN would be doing in a hospital, but because our company is overseen by the Missouri Department of Mental Health we are allowed to do certain procedures and give certain medications. I was told that I cannot do my 84 hours of clinicals at my current job, because it is a group home and I need to do them in a nursing home or hospital. Does anyone know more about this? I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Who told you that your clinical hours cannot be done in your facility? Was it your school? If so, I think they would have the last say in that. If you want to pass their course, you must abide by their rules.

my school(RN program) does not allow any student to do clinicals at their place of employment.

The teacher said it was according to the state of Missouri that, because I work at a group home I cannot do my clinicals there and only can do them in a nursing home or hospital. I was curious to see if anyone knew more on this topic.

Thanks.
