CNA certification

About 5 years ago at the age of 16, I was charged with petit larceny(retail theft). It was a misdemeanor, but the charges were dropped and I was never convicted. Since then I've changed and matured immensely, and I even ended up working for the same company that I originally stole from :D. I am now interested in being a nurse's aide, but I'm afraid that I won't become certified or find employment in any nursing home because of this mistake that happened years ago. I've tried contacting several nursing boards and registries but nobody can seem to give me a clear answer on this matter. Does anyone have any advice on this situation or gone through a similar situation and was able to overcome it? Thanks so much for your time and help.
