Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hi my name is Mihwa, I'm very new to this whole online forum thing but im giving it a go. Anyways I just moved from Chicago to Sacramento a few months ago after completing my CNA course. My teacher told me that after we graduated she would have some job opportunities lined up for us, but I had to move because of my husband. So I was wandering if there are any job opportunities that offer positions to inexperienced CNA's, or would it be wise to just volunteer? Ok thank you soo much, to whoever answers.

hi mihwa,

try locating some nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and group homes for starters. you could search on the internet by typing,

nursing homes sacremento

then a list of nursing homes in sacremento should appear. making a list of their name, address, and phone number would help keep your search information organized.

then call them . . . let them know you are eager to work in health care and would like to come down to see the facility, say hello to the manager, and apply.:nurse:

...yes, and i would suggest keep on trying even if it seems there are no positions available. sometimes there can be a turnover of employees in some of these facilities and if you already have an application submitted you may have a better chance. it's also a good idea to include a nice cover letter with your application as a brief introduction, sometimes that will give you an edge over someone else who didn't bother to include one.

Thank you guys so much. Will those places still hire me even though I only have like 40 hours of experience? That is what worries me the most.

Absolutely. You are more likely to get a job in a nursing home than a hospital right away, but everyone starts out with no experience, that's what the job is for. If anything, just make sure you're comfortable there, that will be key for you to start out.

You could easily become a LVN and then bridge to a rn, or just go to a rn program since you have some experience

...The OP did not ask whether or not she should go to nursing school, she asked whether there were job opportunities for new CNAs.

And yes, new aides get hired all the time! Look on google, in phone books, etc. and find every facility in your area. Nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living...go ahead and put in an application everywhere. It might not happen immediately, but you'll find something. :)
