Specializes in Alzheimers & Dementia (memory care).
I live in Oklahoma City and was considering getting my AUA. AUA is an advanced CNA who works in a hospital & can insert catheters, wound care, remove sutures, etc. I would like to know if anyone can give me info on starting pay (i have been a cna since 2008), work atmosphere, also is there much room for advancement? I'm also interested in getting them to help me pay for tuition for college that i haven't started yet but plan to this year. Also, do you usually just work the 36 hours per week? If this is so, i won't make it well working here and don't wan't to waste 800 dollars if i'll be making less than what i make now as a cna/med aide. Im a single mom of 3 kids & only looking to better myself. Thanks.
Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.
I know that OU Medical Center was paying its patient care assistants (read: advanced CNAs) $10 per hour as of a few years ago. Since the OKC metro area is not the highest paying region, I doubt you're going to be paid much more than that. Good luck to you!
