  1. Classes are 3 days a week i think mon, tues, thursdays 530ish to 10. Then 8-5 on Saturdays. Something like that anyways. The next evening class starts in August.
  2. Hoping2BeANurse are you planning on attending Platts evening program? I am planning to. I did have other plans but of course they didn't go as planned. I need something fast. Im a single mom of 3 and it's getting tough. I've already taken the Hesi Exam and passed first try too.
  3. Thanks! this sucks to know. I make almost $2 more than that just as a cna & passing meds only on the weekends.
  4. I live in Oklahoma City and was considering getting my AUA. AUA is an advanced CNA who works in a hospital & can insert catheters, wound care, remove sutures, etc. I would like to know if anyone can give me info on starting pay (i have been a cna since 2008), work atmosphere, also is there much room for advancement? I'm also interested in getting them to help me pay for tuition for college that i haven't started yet but plan to this year. Also, do you usually just work the 36 hours per week? If this is so, i won't make it well working here and don't wan't to waste 800 dollars if i'll be making less than what i make now as a cna/med aide. Im a single mom of 3 kids & only looking to better myself. Thanks.
  5. Nurse2bOK how are things working out for you so far at Platt? If you don't mind can you send me a private message as to what your monthly payment will be about?
  6. I have been stressing myself out so bad over where i should attend school for nursing. Im a single mom of 3 and i work full time. I was accepted into an expensive private LPN school & was thinking about taking the chance but then i think, i would like to become an RN one day and those credits wont transfer. Also, after graduation i dont want to be broke like i am now with paying back that big school loan on LPN pay. I have somewhat decided to enroll for Spring at Rose State College for nursing but i have to start with pre-reqs since this will be my first time to attend college. Im not good in math and i know school is getting more expensive. Ive always wanted to be a nurse & really disappointed in myself that i am not one by now. Any advice of this program or anything is much appreciated.
  7. Thanks for the info i appreciate it! I make 11.18 now as a cna/med aide and thats after being at my job for 4 years. Nice to know ill possibly get started out more than what i currently make. One more question, do you know if OU has any tuition assistance? Im interested in going for nursing & think that getting into a hospital would give me more experience and a better opportunity to become a nurse.
  8. Hello. Sara i was wondering how Mid America Tech is?? Please any info if u have any. Thanks
  9. Thank you jesuslover007. I know the details of what an AUA does, but do you have any advice, pros & cons to working in the hospital. Do you get swamped with patients every day? How is the other staff towards you? Ive never worked in a hospital, just assisted livings & alzheimers unit. Also, if you work 12 hr shifts which is 3 days a week im guessing is how their schedule goes, are they willing to work with your schedule if your in school??
  10. WorkofHeart8 im guessing you attended Platt? How was your experience & where were you employed after graduation? Everyones experiences are different, im just curious if you dont mind. I have quite a few friends who have graduated from Platt & some who are about to graduate. One of my friends does Hospice and also works for the Federal Transfer Prison, she graduated from Platt. Another friend works at the Detox center. With that info, im sure Platt being on your app isint as bad as most try to make it seem.
  11. ok snb1028 yeah i called and asked, it is something that is offered to you. Well im going to try my best either way and im going part time so i hope ill have time to study even with 3 kids and working full time. I was thinking about taking the AUA class also called PCT, to work in the hospital just to get out of my current job im getting so tired of where i work i hate passing pills every day all the time. Any info on AUA pay, etc? Hospital environment for employment? any info at all? Im use to working in Assisted livings/memory care unit
  12. Thanks SylviaBee! Im enrolled in occc to start pre reqs, im considering also doing the AUA just to get out of my job and get into a hospital. The only thing is im not sure if hospital hours will work with my school schedule.
  13. Hi ive been a cna/mat for 5 years now & work in a memory care unit. Im burned out on elderly & memory impaired at that. I have wanted to be a nurse since i was about 5 years old. I enrolled at OCCC for summer but i have to start at the bottom with pre-reqs. Im also planning to take the AUA class this year. I feel as if i work in the hospital it will be a better start for my nursing career. I am a 27 yr old single mom of 3 children. I need to make a change for the better in my career. I have my grandma who lives with me & she takes care of my kids for me when im at work and now when i start school. I get them every other week, me & their dad have joint custody. I would just like any advice on the AUA/PCT (heard they were the same but idk). Best hospitals to work for, work environment in a hospital, pay ?, etc. just anything to give me more of an idea. I do know most hospitals do the 12 hour shifts which is fine with me. Thanks for reading & i appreciate all advice.
  14. Hi i was looking up posts about the AUA program. I also am interested and and will go this year to Moore Norman for mine. Ive been a cna/mat for 5 yrs & i work in a memory care unit. Im burned out on working with the elderly & memory impaired at that.
