Cna-advanced becoming Rn

Published

After 22 years of working in the Nursing field, I'm finally going to go back and become an RN. I love what I do and want to be more of a patient advocate & also, do more for the patient. I've worked in the PCH, LTC, Hospice, Acute care setting. I've learned & mastered new skills like Phelbotomy, IV therapy, Basic Arrhythmia class, Ekg's, hecks, I already feel like a play nurse. In the Personal Care setting...I even passed Meds & Narcs. So, I'm 43y/y. I think I can do this. I can't wait to start June 29, 2015! Super EXCITED

Uh - I don't know what area you are in, but I'm pretty sure that IV therapy is not something that can be delegated to non-licensed staff. I am also very confused as to how you are allowed to 'pass meds and narcs'.... how is this allowed?

Med techs can pass meds in LTC facilities in my state but not CNAs. Med techs can't handle schedule II-III meds too. So OP I'm curious too.

In my state CNA's can take an additional course after 2 years of working as a CNA to be able to pass meds.
