I have been out of nursing school for 2 1/2 years. I have recently started doing CN on our floor quite often. I have realized though when I have been in charge or precepting for quite a few weeks, when I go back to the floor with my own 5 pt assisgment my time management and pace goes completely out of the window. Is this normal?

Personally, I have a BIG problem with this. At least on my unit this is all the charge nurses when they have to work the floor, and to me I think it sends a message to staff that when your lead person, mentor, and charge is unable to the work in the designated time from frame that completing the work in the designated time frame is an unrealistic expectation. You don't know how often I hear while getting report "Well even 'Mary Charge Nurse' couldn't get everything done...(therefore I leave you this steamy pile of sh*t)" :oornt:
