I am working as a weekend RN for a home health agency. Occasionally I run across an issue where I need to speak with a nursing supervisor over the weekend for clinical support, but no one one is available. Is there a CMS requirement to provide clinical support to nursing staff?

I don't know that there's any CMS requirements, but there should be! I'll dig into this a bit more.

From my HH Manager and QA days, read top to bottom CMS Regulations for Home Health Title 42 PART 484—HOME HEALTH SERVICES
Quote § 484.105 Condition of participation: Organization and administration of services. Administrator (iii) Ensure that a clinical manager as described in paragraph (c) of this section is available during all operating hours

Discuss with your management this concern. There was always a Clinical Mgr.( often myself) on call evening and weekends to support field staff in 4 agencies I worked. Finally free of this responsibility in current home care agency.
