Hello I'm new to the site and I have some questions that needs answering.
I'd just started looking through my RN Pre-Entrance Exam review book and I was just wondering, How similar are the sample questions to the actual questions in the exam?
How difficult is the exam?
What other review books should I consider getting?
I'm a little anxious about trying to get into the nursing progam in HunterCollege. I didn't do as well as I would have liked in my freshman year but this year I'm going back to my good ol' studying ways.
The thing that sucks about Hunter is if you don't get accepted for the nursing program you would have to wait a whole year to apply (you could only enter the program in the fall).
Sorry just needed to get this off my chest.

Hi RedEye,
It really depends on what your pre exam is, different schools have different exams.. My school did the NLN exam, I know my friends school did one that was called something else. So it really depends.
The NLN is like a softer version of the SATs you know.. a math section, an reading comp, a science. Pretty much you know it or your sitting there going "what are they talking about, who knows anything about electric currents????" (obviously not me.)
Anyway if you got your book for that specific test, chances are they are similiar.. as for the not getting in for a year.. I know how that seems like the biggest pain in the world.. I missed getting in by 2 days (didn't have a class completed by the required date) and I know when you decide to go to Nursing school, you want to start NOW.
But if you have any pre-reqs to do, look at the time (if you end up having to wait) as a chance to get those done. My class lost alot of very smart people because they couldn't juggle A&P and all the other pre-reqs with nursing..
hope any of this helped.. good luck!

I'm working through that book myself right now. I can tell I need to improve my speed for the math (I miss my calculator so much).
The answer key for verbal is wrong in several places, FYI. Don't let that throw you.
I'm very interested to see responses to this thread.

Hey.. I totally understand where you are coming from. This is my third year at an university. I took all of my pre-reqs at this university didn't do well my first 2 years mostly C's in science classes... basically everything. Since freshmen year, I heard negative things like "You'll never get in", "No one ever gets in", "Change your major"... etc. All of my friends changed their majors.. But I stuck with it because I knew Nursing is what I really wanted.
This past Spring semester, I studied like I never studied before. I did EXCELLENT in Pathophysiology, and two other nursing classes. So all it takes is a little HARD work and dedication.
I finally got the courage to turn my application in, with a litle faith and hope I submitted it. I found out there were 120 applicants and only 1/3 would be accepted. The same here you will have to reapply all over! OMG!
But I hung in there continued to study hard and keep faith.
... I received my acceptance letter a week ago...
I'm in!!!!!
I am now in a BSN Nursing program!!!!
I am so proud of myself because I accomplished something that people thought was IMPOSSIBLE.
Relax, Keep Faith, Study HARD and do your best!
You can do anything you put your mind to!
Oh Yea.. We took the ATI test/ TEAS test and those study books do help they give you an idea of whats on the test. I would say its similar to the SAT but not as challenging as the SAT.
