Clinical Skills on Resume

Hey there -

So, I recently moved to Vancouver, BC and am updating my resume. I have only had one job, on a progressive care unit where I worked for almost two years.

I'm having a hard time describing what that unit was like on my resume. Namely the clinical skills I had to use on a daily basis (pacing wires, chest tubes, epidurals, central lines, cardiac medications used, etc).

I've seen sample resumes where people have a separate clinical skills section, but with just one job under my belt does that make sense or should I include the clinical skills in another area?

Also, is there a post or area here where other nurses post their resumes as examples? I've looked through several of the posts of people asking for feedback, but a post of sample resumes would be really helpful!

Thanks!

I would suggest going to the website's career - nursing job section of the place where you worked. Try to find a job posting for that unit. If you find one, look at the qualifications, skills, ect that they are asking for and creatively summarize some key things mentioned on your resume, especially clinical skills and or procedures that the next job you are applying for asks for.

If your old job doesn't have jobs from your dept. listed, search other hospital websites nursing job board that have job postings similar to past job.

On this website, I would click on the Career” main tab and put your title Clinical Skills on Resume” in the search engine. Several threads should pop up.

Google sample nursing resumes with one job” and click the images button so that you can get a visual of what it should look like. Pinterest is another place to search that term.

It's time for me to brush off and update my own resume as well. Good luck.
