clinical site interview

i have my clinical site interview next wk - can anyone give me some heads up on the type of questions asked at these interviews?!?!

Hey there,

There are many, many postings regarding this subject. Just go to the page that lists the threads, scroll down to the bottom right side, and search using "interview" as a key word.

And remember that it is almost never as bad as the scenarios you imagine in your mind. Of course, there was the interviewee who dozed off during a question (never work the night before an interview, folks) and another nurse who burst into tears and bolted from the room during the clinical questions phase. And to top it off, I know a student who was thinking hard about a question during a panel interview in a dead quiet room...and farted. True stories, not urban myths. Stress does strange things to people sometimes.

Mistakes are a part of life. It is your reaction and recovery that salvage (or doom) a situation. This is not an original idea of mine, mind you. Just passing it along for what it is worth...

Best of luck!

thank you soo much for replying - i did already search and all those seemed to be about was the initial interview w/ the school of choice - i am already in - i start in january - i just have to convince my clinical choice why they should choose me over other prospective students

i don't know if other schools require this or not - but if they do - are the questions similar to the program interview?!?!

the other tough part is i am out of town - so i am doing my interview via phone conference (by their choice) - i am hoping the fact that they were ok with this means the interview is probably just a technicality.....

Is the clinical interview something new? I have never heard of it. Do you only do your clinicals at one hospital?

Would you mind telling what school is requiring you to do this. I'm currently applying to CRNA school I, too, haven't read anything about interviewing for a clinical site.

Thanks

i start at drexel/mcp hahnemann in january

i have a choice of multiple sites - but yes i primarily do my rotation at one hospital - the one i chose is a level one trauma center - so it has absolutely every kind of experience available.....

i have to be accepted by the clinical site via interview - they ask for a second choice in case you are not chosen -but the vibe i got from the program director the other day was that this may be a "technicality"

i didn't know if other had to go through this same process or not - but if anyone did - please tell me what kind of questions they asked......thanks

This is the first I've heard of clinical interviews for anesthesia school. Hell, I guess they're treating you like you're in MD school at Hahneman instead. That doesn't surprise me all that much for some reason. You're right. I haven't seen much on this board about "clinical interviews." If anyone can shed some more light on this subject, please feel free. My guess is that most schools haven't gone so far as to make you find your own clinical sites. I think that is atrocious, honestly. They need to draw the line between medical school and CRNA school because they are two different professions.

One clinical site for my school has a separate interview and the others do not. It seems like a way for the MDA's and CRNA's at the facility to have a little more control about who comes through their facility.

well - i had a choice of 5 clinical sites - but you are required to interview and be accepted to the site of your choice - even though you are already accepted to the program!!

i had my interview - here are the questions

1. tell us about yourself

2. tell us more about your critical care experience

3. why are you still working in the E.D. and how do you

feel it contributes to your learning

4. how will you feel about being the student rather than the

"experienced" staff member/ charge rn etc....

5. why will we be glad if we choose you

6. do you plan to work outside of school during the program

Yeah I have never heard of this before. My fiance is in med school in Philly (not at Hahnemann) and he certainly didn't have to interview for any of his clinical sites. He actually got to choose wherever he wanted to go through a modified lottery system. Does Hahnemann med school even make their students interview for clinical sites? This sounds like it would be anxiety producing, because what if you are accepted to the CRNA program but not the clinical sites? Well, good luck on your interview, hopefully you will get your first choice site!
