Hello!
I need some advice from some current Clinical Research Nurses. I have six years of experience as an RN, mostly in the ICU and most recently in PACU. I have my BSN and I've been part of a lot of process improvement projects on the floors I've worked on, requiring me to collect data over time, present my findings to management, etc. I have REALLY been wanting to get into a research nurse position. I've applied for a few positions and have had no luck getting an interview. It's disheartening because I have never had a hard time finding a nursing job before. Is there any advice you can give me about applying for a Clinical Research Nurse job?? I appreciate any advice or feedback!

I’m currently a Clinical Research Nurse and its very difficult it get into clinical research. Many employers want you have to experience since there is a large regulatory component to research that you do not learn in nursing. I took a course at Clinicalresearchfastrack which is an intense “boot camp” that teaches you the regulatory process. Let me know if you have any questions.

That is really helpful! Thank you!! I’ll look into some regulation classes near me. Any other certifications or anything that may make me more marketable? I really appreciate your reply ?

Thanks for the response! I have been looking into clinical research nurse career track since becoming a bedside nurse. I was skeptical about the Clinical Research Fastrack bootcamp course, but will look into it course in the future. I am an ICU nurse for past 2 years, but have worked in benchwork research as an both undergraduate and graduate in college.
Also do you recommend membership in ACRP or SOCRA?

I recently replied to another forum concerning research. Have you tried looking at a teaching hospital for research jobs. I was able to gain research nurse positions with no experience by applying at a research hospital.
