clinical question that puzzles you?

Hey guys,

i am just trying to get started on a research assignment I have to do and was wondering if I could get some help with ideas?

It can be on ANYTHING.

Some examples they've given us are

"Why do we measure a persons vital signs every 4 hours?"

"Does home visiting improve health outcomes?"

"When someone is having a blood transfusion how frequently should you check for transfusion reactions?"

those were just a few examples... i initially wanted to have something like "Why can't registered nurses in New Zealand cathetarise males" but i couldnt find any research on it and my lecturerer told me to do something else.

can you think of any good ones?? something that i could find some good research on? the assigment just requires us to form a research question using PECOT (population/exposure/comparison,control/outcome/time)

We did something similar in my class. and we used Pecot regarding the effectiveness of neutropenic diet.

Most of the research shows that neutropenic diet is really ineffective and there are other issues with it.. but majority of hospitals still have the neutropenic diet

does that help?

Does administering morphine in the actively dying patient hasten death?

Does using heparin flushes on central lines actually prevent occlusion?

Does the education of the nurse, ASN, BSN, or MSN have an affect upon patient outcomes and satisfaction?
