We are in the process of updating/revamping our Clinical Ladder. Does anyone have any examples/suggestions that could be added to the additional activities area so that nurses can earn additional points? Thanks in advance for your time and help!

I don't have ours in front of me, but some of the things I can remember include:

- Perfect attendance for 1 year

- X amount of CEU's above and beyond the required by the State BON

- X number of hospital educational classes taken

- Complete BSN if ADN nurse

- Complete MSN if BSN nurse

- Publish a scholarly article in a reputable nursing journal

- Complete a "change project" within your unit

- Complete the nursing mentor class

- Pass your nursing specialty exam (ex: CCRN)

I know there are a lot more... ours works with numbers of years of service. You need to complete a certain number of requirements every year you are employed to move up on the ladder. An employee is able to complete the clinical ladder after 4 years of employment but I do recall that the last few requirements are tough for a nurse to complete (such as publishing a scholarly nursing article).
