Hello my fellow nursing students. I have a question hopefully someone can share some info with me. Does anyone know how or if we can incorporate clinical hours into out resume ? If so please share. Thanks in advance and much appreciated !

I would say it depends on what kind of job you are applying for. If you are graduating nursing school and applying for an RN position then I would leave the clinical hours off the resume because everyone has to take the same clinicals to become an RN. On the other hand, if you're applying for a CNA position while in school then I would make a section called "Related Experience" and add which clinicals you have had so far. You want to focus on adding things to your resume that make you stick out. Good luck! :)

From a Google search of new RN grad resumes (I've been putting mine together, too), people do put those hours on, but state where you've spent a lot of time, and where you did your preceptorship. On your cover letter, state the things you did that made you stand out from your cohorts. I also listed which hospitals I did my clinicals in, because that does make a difference for what you encountered. For example, I did my peds rotation in an ED, whereas some of my classmates did with school nurses, and others did with home health (no peds units here, sadly). So we all saw different things. I didn't get too into it, but just made mention of where I did those rotations.
If you have other medical experience, customer service, etc, be sure to list that too, of course!
Thank u so much for your input. I will def use it.
