cleaning straight caths between use can be a real pain. I recently worked a case that use denture cleaning tabs to soak the caths prior to sanitizing with vinegar. It worked well!!!!!

I know two females with quadriplegia, who have their indwelling catheter removed and cleaned with Sunlight dish detergent, rinsed and then re-inserted after their daily BM. Would have thought this would cause them major problems, but one has done it for twenty years and her bladder does not appear to have more then the usual catheter change. The other has only done this for three years but her bladder does not seem to be adversly affected either. Guess sometimes low tech solutions work.
