Finally, my nursing school (LPN) journey has almost arrived. I start on the 26th of January. I am super excited and ready to learn. Failure is not an option. I've been reading everyone's comments on their programs and their first day and Im ready to write about mine. So to those who have already started congrats once again on nursing school journey and for those who are starting this Monday I hope you have a wonderful first day.

How is class going for you? I start at ecpi in April :)

What was your first day like, if you don't mind me asking- I'm anxious to know how orientation and the first day go!!

Classes are going great. My first day was good. Your first day is your introduction day where you meet your classmates and you get your books. You Start learning that same day. Your first week of the term is usually your easy week bc your getting familiar with the teacher and the class. But after that first week it's quizzes and test everyday. The program so far is good. I'm in term 2. The school provides you with everything you need to pass, you just have to do the work. So far it's the best desicion I ever made. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Congrats! I'm sooo excited for you! I start nursing school in June 2015. Please give tips for studying and stuff. I would love to hear what you have to say.

Congrats on getting to term 2! That's so exciting! I agree with the PP study tips would be super appreciated! Also, what was orientation like (if you remember) did you get your books then or do you get books, name badge and scrubs during the first week? Keep us updated on your progress!!

I can't even remember what I did for orientation. I think you get your badge then and I can't recall anything else. You get your books first day of each term. And you get assigned an iPad your first week and you keep it for 10 weeks. My advice for before beginning school is go ahead and clean up your house now. Go ahead and talk to your friends and family and tell them you will be unavailable for the next 14 months. Get your support people in place. Go ahead and set you DVR because your going to miss some of your shows. When in school stay current or a head. Don't miss any days because missing one day is like missing two. Get close with classmates because you are with them the whole time. You have to use your classmates as resources. If your not retaining the information or having a hard time understanding seek help ASAP because week three is midterms. As far as study habits you know what works for u, so use that and you will learn quick how u need to study. I know for me it's helps me to write stuff out, flash cards, study group, reading the book for better understanding. I know that I cannot study if I'm tired or in the house and it's not clean because then my focus is on cleaning up. Then I study for 45 mins to an hour than take a 15 min break in the break do something relaxing or fun. Then get back to studying for another hour then take another break. It's also help to read the material before class so when your in class the information is not foreign. I think I answered all your question and more, feel free to ask more. I promise you I did the exact same thing before I started school.

Hi candyred! I wanted to wait till orientation came for me so I could let you know how it went!

For us, we took our pictures for our badges, paid our background check fee and talked about clinical sites. We will not be getting iPads until term two- which doesn't matter to me as I already have one to access my books or whatnot. We also tried on scrubs and toured the back halls of the building and then were sent on our merry way!

Class begins tomorrow, and I've definitely made a point to take your advice. I spent the past week getting everything together- my apartment is spotless, my closest is spring and summer ready and my winter stuff is all put back in to storage. I have all my school supplies prepared and a study area set up. I got (sort of) lucky this week. My roommate is on vacation with his family, so my first week of school I have the apartment completely to myself- so I'll be able to at least start to get a good idea of what study times/places/habits might work for me!

How is your program going? I noticed you mentioned you're now in term 3- how have your past two terms been?

Thank you again for all your help and great advice!!
