Class/Course Management?? | TEAS V??

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello! I am taking all my prerequisites prior to entering the nursing program in my school. I already applied, but still thinking if I should go for it this year or next year. So please bear with me while I summarize my situation.

I took all remedial classes (HS math, eng, etc) on my first 3 semesters at my college. I never took an SAT or those kind of things because I migrated from another country. While that didn't really matter, I had to rush in and take the rest of my pre-reqs SPRING 2015 just to get in to the program for FALL 2015.

I already sent an application which I don't very much fuss about because admission to the program depends mostly on our GPA, TEAS V results, and residency.

The thing is that, I still have GEN. ED. classes (microbiology, sociology, etc) to take, and if I ever got into our nursing program, I was afraid that I would flunk my nursing courses and gen ed classes because of the workload. And another thing is that because I'm hesitant, I'm not so sure if I should study now and take the TEAS. To only realize I'm not ready for everything and waste time doesn't seem good to me.

So any tips for this kind of situation would really help.

I would suggest waiting to take the Teas until you are comfortable. I have some "silly classes" as I call them to take as well for one of the schools I'm applying too. But I will have also taken all of my non-nursing school classes as well, so for most of nursing school I will only be taking ONE class a semester. So I figured during that time, I can take those silly classes like Orientation, CIS, Calc, Reading, and Chemistry. That's if they accept me. That school is my second choice. My first choice, I will have all of my classes out of the way and again will only have 1 class a semester. I say stay focused. Create your own plan, see what those classes are. If you can wait another year, to get your GPA up and take the silly classes then do it. I'm 41 and don't really want to do it, but if I have to I will wait another year. I'm applying to two schools this year. Good luck!

Chemistry & Calculus are definitely not "silly" classes. They are pretty much at the opposite end of that spectrum. Most nursing schools require all basic science & math to be complete before they will grant admission because those are the courses most likely to be problematic for applicants.

Wishing you the best of luck on your educational journey.

I just called them silly to me. If I offended you I'm sorry. I will be taking them when I do my BSN bridge. Just don't have to have them for the nursing program I'm applyng to. I have two previous degrees.
