Clarkson College

Nursing Students SRNA

Updated:   Published

I started CRNA school at Clarkson College last week. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

I think they don't give a number b/c if they need to pull off the waitlist, they get together and thoroughly discuss who to pull. I was originally waitlisted. I asked yesterday what made them pull me off the waitlist, and they said they would never tell. So, my best advise is to take graduate level research on your own (not through Clarkson). Then, if you get pulled from the waitlist, you have the toughest class done and it would apply to the program you are currently accepted at. If you get accepted past January, it would be too late to take the stats class, but that is only a Clarkson requirement, I think. Anyway, that's how I would do it. It's tough being in limbo.

Where have the Clarkson SRNA students been taking their research class? The other students told me the same thing at the interview.

Well, no one warned us so we took it at Clarkson :/

I'm applying this year! I've got technically about 2 years ICU experience but wasn't full time until last year. Before ICU I had 3 years of ED including transitioning to level 1 trauma center from a level 3. GPA isn't great.. I'd say a 3.1 science and 3.3 cum. However, I have CEN, TCRN, TNCC, and just passed CCRN today! Took O-chem this past spring just to add to my resumé. We have a combined CCU so we get neuro, trauma, med/surg, and fresh hearts which I haven't been trained on. I was awarded "nurse of the year" at my hospital so hoping that helps.

Getting stuck on the personal statement!! I never know which angle to approach it from.

I wonder how many applicants they'll have this year...

Anyone else applying?

To OP- I heard that you aren't allowed to graduate until you pass a test at the end of the program. That students were stopped from graduating until they passed, sometimes for several months. I guess they are doing this because the board passing rate was so low. What do faculty tell you about this?

I have applied and just found out I have an interview in October, date TBD. Clarkson is one of my top choices, but I have a strong personality, and I am nervous about how much to let that show in the interview. You say they want confident people, but I am trying to figure out how to sound confident but not cocky. I feel that I have a strong application, but the interview part is hard for me, and I am terrible about coming up with questions to ask.

Thanks for starting this thread, I am hoping to find others who are interviewing, and hopefully will get in.

Would you be comfortable sharing your stats?

How did you get contacted regarding an upcoming interview? Via email or did someone call you?

I was invited to interview this October via e-mail. Actual date/time appointment was scheduled by phone.

I did not get in. Anyone else? They said they had ~150 applicants.
