hello all, im new to this website and i am currently in grade 12. Im planning on going to college for my rpn. I read the Rpn to Rn thread but i am a bit confused. Would someone please answer my questions:

1.Theres these programs in colleges that say post rpn, get BScN, now if i get this BScN am i considered as an RN?

2.IF i was to graduate as an RPN how long would it take full time to be an RN?What would i have to do?

Thanks

Need you to clarify your post.

RPN in western Canada is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse -- a registered nurse that specializes in Mental Health. Many hospitals hire them as RNs on their LTC, acute care of the elderly floors. They can take additional courses to obtain a BScN.

If you are in Ontario and want to be a Registered Practical Nurse or LPN in the rest of the country, at your age I would advise working your behind off to get the marks to get into a BScN programme. The entry requirements are being constantly raised and the colleges and universities are forever increasing the GPA required. (Half the people I work with wouldn't be admitted with today's requirements).

Good Luck, with Grade 12, it can be a hell of a year.

thanks for your reply,

Centennial College in Ontario offers a BScN for LPN's what makes the difference from an RN who has an BScN and an LPN who has their BScN???
