Members are discussing the application process and acceptance criteria for a nursing program. Some members are sharing their stats and experiences with rejection despite high GPAs and HESI scores, while others are asking about the program's schedule and NCLEX pass rates. Additionally, there is a group invite for accepted students to join a study group.
Hello! I'm a pre-nursing student hoping to start in the UTHealth Cizik Pacesetter program for Fall 2025. I'm starting this thread to connect with other pre-nursing students aiming for the program, as well as current students who might be able to answer our questions. If you're comfortable, please feel free to share your stats, questions, comments, or any concerns. We're all in this together, and hopefully, we'll be celebrating our acceptance together!

Hi! Congrats on deciding!!
I have a question only if you feel comfortable answering. What was the other school that accepted you? Just asking because I'm wondering if UTMB has released any decisions.
I don't know much about UTMB. I only applied to TWU and UT—both are great schools, and most graduate nurses I've talked to have had positive experiences with them. UTMB is also a good option, but since it's far from my home, I didn't apply there. TWU just fits my schedule better than UT, so I chose to attend TWU. 😊
By the way, I toured the UT campus this morning and asked a few questions about the application process. They prioritize students who have completed most of the prerequisites (I'm only missing Sociology, so I'll need to complete that before classes start). They also look closely at entrance exam scores—if your scores align with what they're looking for, it works in your favor.
Another factor is whether you're a Texas or Houston resident, which can strengthen your application. Applying early also helps speed up the process. When all of these factors come together, it increases your chances of receiving an earlier decision. Your application may be pushed into the acceptance batch quickly!! (according to one of the BSN program faculty members I spoke with).
Hope that helps!

I wonder how they select their applicants.
