Civilian Nursing on a International Military Base

Hey all,

I am a nursing student who will be graduating with a BSN degree in May 2014. I am extremely interested in working as a civilian nurse on a international military base. As a new grad, is it possible to get hired into a hosopital in this area? If so, how does one apply for these positions? The information online gets a little complicated and I would very much appreciate some advice from nurses who have done it before or who know what the process is like.

Am I dreaming too big here? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks.

If you are talking about an American base overseas, those job listings can be found on usajobs.gov. However, most RN jobs require at least one year of experience. I'm sure there are exceptions, though. Happy hunting!

Thanks for the response Pixie.RN. I'm doing my Nursing Capstone at the Minneapolis VA and am wondering if applying there (and hopefully getting a job!) working as a federal employee might help the process along/open up new opportunities for nursing abroad on a base. Do you think this will make any kind of a difference?

And of course, gaining some nursing experience never hurts either. :)

Also, does USAjobs list postings for all branches of service in the military?
