Where are you moving? Not all military posts in Germany have hospitals. Some just have treatment clinics. I lived in Bamberg and we used the German facility (Klinikum) if we needed in-patient treatment or we were transferred over an hour away to a military hospital. The US nurses that I knew at the time in my area worked on post in the clinic as immunization nurses, EFMP screeners, triage nurse, etc. If you go somewhere that has a military hospital (use to be in Wuerzburg, Heidelberg, Landstuhl that I remember off the top of my head), they have more nursing options.
Good luck! It was an awesome experience!
Yes, I visited both areas and my daughter had surgery in Heidelberg at the military hospital there. We only briefly went to Landstuhl and did not go to the MTF there. It has been quite a while, though, and I not sure of the current hiring trends there. I know when we were there years ago, they had a lot of turn over since it was generally 3 year assignments for the military member. There were not a lot of civilian nurses where we were so they had a very easy time getting jobs. Good luck!!
Hello,
Yes i applied on the usajobs.gov and cpolarmy.mil site. It has been a year since I applied and so far no response. I have applied possible three times throughout the year. A bit dissapointed and fustrated. I'm thinking of moving to Germany without a nursing job. Not sure what to do..

Hello everyone,
I am planning to move to Germany in few months from Texas, and would like to know if anyone has information or insight about the military hospital facility/clinics in Germany. I have 2 years of experience on a 50 bed telemetry unit and is eager to find a job in Germany. Does any happen to know how difficult it is to find a RN position in a military hospital? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you
