Hello Everyone,

Who else is applying to the Citrus nursing program this coming term? If so, do you guys know what is the usual points for acceptance? Thank you !

OK so it seems AP got notified at 1000. AP alternates notified as well

Aww well that sucks. I guess I’ll be expecting my denial letter in the mail LOL. Congrats to whoever got in

Congratulations everyone. I did not receive an email. ?

Congrats to those who got in! I will see you all (accepted and alternates) at orientation during the student QA and campus tours!! Enjoy your free time while you all have it and get those requirements for the program done ASAP even if your alternate! Have everything ready to go and on standby. You can be called up to the day the fall semester starts so again do not give up hope! Congrats to you all and welcome to the journey.

Hey! when does the class really start for the LVN_RN applicants, is in on Fall?

How many days you go to clinical and school

I honestly don't remember but it was 70's I think. The people I Know who are alternates have hospital experience and pretty good GPA's.

I believe you start in Summer for a Transitional Course and brush up on skills then they throw you in in the Fall for Medsurg

I am just waiting for a Denial letter since I got no email.

Fall semester will start the same as ALL other classes at Citrus College. LVNS that are accepted will begin with the second year generic option ADNs in the fall semester. LVNs will also do a Summer transition class to make the bridge from LVN to RN a bit smoother.

Clinicals will depend on if your a generic or AP student as the requirements for clinicals differ depending on when your coming into the program.

For Generic option clinicals:

Typically two days a week (Mon, Tues) and mine were for about 8 hours each day and not full shifts, but that was during COVID so it could be full shifts now moving forward. You will also have skills day at campus for several weeks before attending clinicals for fundamentals that will consist of all basic nursing skills such as bed baths, bed pan, I/O, etc... You guys will more than likely be doing your fundamental clinicals in a skilled nursing facility.

For Advanced Placement Clinicals:

You will begin with the second year ADN students for medsurg 3 and psychiatric/mental health rotation in the fall of 2022.

Clinicals will be at an acute care facility and will be more than likely one day a week for the second 8 weeks either Mon or Saturday. Shifts are 12 hours long. You will also have skills day to learn skills before going to clinicals. Pysch clinicals will be at a mental health facility and were also one day a week for the first 8 weeks either Friday or Monday.

HOWEVER, everything is subject to change from semester to semester so it ultimately depends on the ADN faculty and clinical sites of what days/how many hours and what sites everyone will be at. This is just how my fall semester was last year as an example so just keep that in mind as everything is always subject to change. Let me know if you you guys have any more questions!

I saw the schedule at citrus’ website, seems like for Fall Semester there are 2 options for clinical rotation:

Saturday or a Monday and then a lecture of Thursday.. do you get to choose which day of clinical? how does it go, is it first come first serve basis? This was for Med Surg 3

For Mental Health

it was Thursday Lecture and clinical day option of a Tuesday or Friday

Do you mind if we message through PM?

I did lvn there; you can’t pick. They assign you

No, we do not pick. It is entirely up to faculty and we have to adjust our schedules accordingly. Welcome to nursing school! hahaha and no that is totally fine if you need to just message me personally. I am very active in program and have a lot information!

oh this is a bummer im not able to send message here LOL, does any of your classmates work fulltime if any of them were LVN?

Yes! Actually, most of my LVN class mates work either per diem, part time, or full time and they seem to make it work! I personally, have been lucky enough to not have to work since starting the program, but I have many class mates that have worked the entire time. It is ultimately student preference and how much they feel they can handle during each semester.
