Citrus College ADN program Fall 2009

Is anybody here waiting for a letter? Does anyone know when they are going to send it out? Thanks

I'm waiting for them too. No idea when they'll send them out. It's only been a month since their deadline so I would guess another 2 weeks giving them 6 weeks to decide who to admit and who to not.

Talked with them last week, and they said they will be sending out the letters "hopefully" by the end of this week.

I am really anxious and hopeful about them, since they are based on academics, not the lottery system!! HTH :)

I'm getting anxious too. Thank you both for replying. Do any of you know how the ADN program is at this school?

It's fairly new. I want to say that this is their first full year, maybe second. They have a good reputation regarding other professional programs they have, so i would assume this will be as well organized. Or at least I hope :)

The fact that they are planning to get the answers out to us within 1 month of receiving the apps tells you that they are at least on top of that! Other schools I have applied to have had my app since mid Jan and don't plan on sending anything out until mid June. Citrus' 30 day turn around is nice!

Has anyone heard anything yet?

I received an acceptance letter last week. It was dated the 30th of April and you had to decide whether to accept the offer by the 18th of May. Best of Luck!

Well, I got my "thanks but..." letter today. I got into another program though, so I was not as upset as I thought I would be. :) Good luck to everyone else!!!

I did not get accepted to this school but I did get in another school. What's important is we get into a school (even though it may not be our first choice) and start the journey to becoming a nurse. Goodluck to all of you!

Cool. I probably did not get in either then as I have yet to receive my letter. But it's okay I will be starting at Glendale in the Fall. Good luck to all of you as well!

Wait- So citrus is not doing the lottery system anymore?

I am having difficulties on deciding between the ADN program in Cypress College or Citrus College. I got accepted to both programs for fall 2009 but I need to decide which school is best for me since I have concerns for both schools. I really need the input of those who have good knowledge about the Citrus and/or Cypress College ADN program.

Citrus College is more convenient for me since it's way closer to where I live. This would be very helpful for me since I'm a mother of a 2 yrs old and need to avoid any daily hassles for two years as much as possible. However, since it is such a new program, I wanted to know how good of a program it is since I can't decide much about it other than basing it on their brn pass rate: only 2 took it of 2007/2008 and 100% passed. That doesn't say a lot good so that worries me. Would that mean I have to work harder to be able to pass the NCLEX? Does the program have enough resources, research and knowledge? On the other hand, Cypress College is very inconvenient for me since it's really far and would be traffic everyday to school and to clinicals. However, their program is top notch. According to their brn pass rates for how many years, they've been getting 95-98% passing.

I guess the real question is: Does the program really have a lot of impact on how well we pass our NCLEX thus best for me to take Cypress OR does it just really depend on the individual thus best for me to take a risk in Citrus' new program and avoid the daily hassles of going to school for two years?

The strength of the program can definitely help you, but at the same time, it's up to you to study for the NCLEX and pass. Personally, I think colleges like Cypress that don't do a lottery system but have a higher academic standard are more likely to have a high passing rate because their class itself was smart or studious to begin with (if you don't have the grades, you won't be admitted). I think if you were able to get into Cypress, you'll definitely be able to study by yourself and do well on the NCLEX, regardless of which school you attend. :)
