I am planning on moving to the Cincinnati area and need some help deciding what hospitals to look into. So far I have talked to Good Samaritan, Christ, and St. E's. St. E's HR nurse recruiter seemed to not know anything about nursing at the hospital at all.
Something I am so shocked about is the pay!! Most hospitals starting wage is $21. I live in MN and am making $31 base pay with only 3.5 years experience.
If anyone can offer any information (good or bad) on the hospitals or the city I would really appreciate it!!!!
Thanks!!!

University ALWAYS has openings that are not always posted. I have worked there on 3 different occasions and they are always desparate for nurses on every floor. They use a ton of agency and travel nurses to fill the holes. As far as the health alliance, of all of their hospitals, University pays the most becuase they have contracts and are part of a union. Everyone is paid a set rate with yearly increments that you will find in the contract.
It is usually for new grads. Mercy sometimes has a 12,000 sign on for new employees. Also, Bethesda north was advertising a rolling 10,000 dollar sign on. And the new hospital coming to the west chester area is already hiring. Atrium is paying a 10,000 doallar sign on as well.
I worked the transplant floor. Lots of turn over and really sick patients, but you learn a lot.
What hospital are you refering to as Mercy West? Are you talking Western Hills?
DO NOT GO TO EITHER OF THOSE!!!!!! Mt Airy is currently having real issues. I was the clinical coordinator there for 13 months and recently got the hell out of dodge and transferred to Mercy Fairfield which not only pays more but is run more like the real Mercy hospitals.
