CHRISTUS Versant RN Residency: February 2016

Published

I will be moving to Texas from California at the end of December because my fiance has a job opportunity in San Antonio and I has hoping to get my job secured before the big move!

Have you applied for the CHRISTUS Versant RN Residency for February 2016? Have you heard back from them yet?

I know my unit hasn't picked the versants for Feb. yet. When I got hired I applied in March and didn't hear till May and wasn't officially hired till June.

Baptist is a large system that hires new grads, as well. Just look for listings for "RN" instead of "RN II" (or higher). They aren't listed as new graduate positions, but they are open to new graduates.

I have an interview tomorrow for the versant program, and I know two other classmates who received interviews as well.

What hospital/unit did you apply for? I'm still waiting for a call...

I hope your interview went well Wolf92!

Hi RN's,

I have been in the city for a few years, but don't know much about the different residency programs. I am in my 3rd semester and would like to start gathering information about the benefits, pros, and cons about each program. Can anyone give professional feedback on your personal experience being in the Versant, Methodist, Baptist, University, VA, etc residency programs in San Antonio? For example: how long is it, what is their process of weaning you in patient care, do they offer night shift for new RN's, what is the avg. pay for beginning RN's (not asking for your pay rate, but a general avg.), and how was your experience with your preceptor? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I wish they would come to the schools and explain their programs in more details.
