Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for anyone that has applied for the 2025 nurse residency at CHOP. I had my phone screen today and curious to hear how others' experience has been so far in the hiring process!

Are applications for Spring 2025 residency available? I could not find on website. Good luck to you!

Anyone hear anything about when the May grad nurse residency applications open?

I had my phone screen right after new year's, had an interview/shadow a couple weeks ago and was told I got the job the following day for the PICU to start in March. I worked there while in school as a tech which probably helped, but CHOP is usually pretty quick with communication.
Congratulations that's awesome, I graduate in May still trying to figure out when the applications will open for my class
Thank you! I believe new cohorts start every 8 weeks, like 95% sure I am trying to remember from when I was there. You will probably have to apply for July at the earliest because sometimes it will specifically say the position is for a licensed nurse resident, and other times it says you can have your temporary PA license awaiting RN licensure but you only have one chance to pass your boards or you will lose your position.
And there are so many things you have to do before starting, like fingerprinting, a child abuse clearance screening, making an appointment to go to occupational health, ordering embroidered uniforms through chop which takes 4-6 weeks. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!!
I think that's where I'm confused IDK which ones I can apply for without it specifying "licensed nurse resident" no one has given me a clear answer when I called. Almost all positions say you have to have temporary licensing upon hire.
So when I applied on the careers website the job title was "Licensed Nurse Resident", and I also saw another one posted that just said "Nurse Resident", so it should explicitly say it. But typically I thought you can apply not being licensed because it is an entry level position and like you said you can start with a temporary permit.
However I would personally wait until passing the NCLEX to even apply, because like I said the amount of things you have to do in order to start is a lot and I would hate for you to do all of that start and god forbid not pass, especially because I believe you have up to a year to take the NCLEX so it would suck to be a few months in and have done all the preboarding requirements finish orientation and then lose your spot. I understand some people may have to start working as soon as possible but if you are set on CHOP/Peds and have the chance to wait and really take your time studying, I would. Especially because it is nearly impossible to start in peds anywhere else as a new grad.

That's awesome! During my phone screen they told me PICU was on hold for interviews for a few more weeks and she'll be in touch to schedule an interview but I haven't heard anything yet!

I would honestly reach out again, there are 3 sides of the PICU. I got hired to the one side and when I was there I talked to another girl who said she was interviewing for the other side but I am not sure the outcome or how many spots are available on each side. Maybe call tomorrow because of that long list of things you would need to do if you're hired for March. Like they told me my stuff needed to be done before mid February to start in March so I would send a follow up email or call because by the time you'd interview and have to do everything there's not a lot of time.

I have my interview on Wednesday! Any tips?
