Help---Ive been accepted into 3 programs for Summer-Fall 2011:
-NYU College of Nursing 15month track-BS program
-Helen Fuld Nursing program Associate Degree program
and
-Excelsior College AS Degree study at home program.
Im not sure which program to enter into. Has anyone attended any one of these programs and what has been your experience? What choice do you think I should go with or could you share what choice you would choose and why. Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Trying to make a choice.

im only in a lpn program but if i had a ba degree i would def do the 15 month bsn, just think, bust ur butt for 15 months and u have a bsn, you will be a proffessional nurse, thats what the us will want eventually anyway and u will already b there, i wouldnt waste my time with the adn cuz ur already so close so u may as well go all the way, congrats i heard its a lot of competition to get into the accelerated bsn programs, i live in philly and it is tough here, good luck

1. Unless you intend to practice nursing in New York for the rest of your career, I would not attend Excelsior because many states have restrictions on that nursing program. Some states, such as California, will no longer grant licensure to Excelsior grads. You don't know where you'll be in 10, 15, or 20 years.
2. Although NYU is offering a BSN, the tuition is too outrageous to justify. Imagine spending all of that money on tuition with the very real possibility of not being able to find a job in NYC. Your student loan payments will be huge whether you can land a job or not.

Firstly congrats for being accepted into these programs, it's good to have options... I too would not suggest a distance learning program first due to the accrediation issue in many state (either flat out not accepting it or requiring additional work experience/perceptorship/other requirements) and secondly because it is self paced and takes lots of self control and directedness, plus ideally you would have more hands on experience and instructor interaction/feed back, a lot of people lead better that way.
So between the other two, think about what is most important to you: time it takes to finsih, manageablity/intensity of program, financial obligation/ debt likely to incur, personal preference, locations (which is closer/more convenient), reputation of school, pass rate on boards... Ultimately it is up to you, but these are just some things to think about...
Good luck:yeah:
