I currently Live in the Tampa Bay Area and am looking to enroll in a CNA program over the summer. I reviewed the various offerings in the area and I see that I have choices ranging from a 2 day Boot camp or weekend crash course to a 4-6 week program. My question is, are there any real distinct differences between the two different program types besides the cost? Also, are there any local schools that I need to stay away from? Any that you would highly reccomend? Any schools that would be more recognizable in the health care community? Thanks in advance for any insight any of you can give me!

I trained at the Red Cross chapter of Tampa Bay. Very good instructors who were understanding and very patient with me. I know it's not an accredited program but it doesn't have to be for you to take the state exam. Total cost including uniforms and a couple miscellaneous items was $750. Official cost was about $600.

I would be wary of the "2 day boot camp" program since the minimum number of hours required by federal regulations is 75. I would be suspicious of any program that promises to fulfill the CNA training requirement in less time than that.
Aaron,
the Tampa Bay chapter is not a 2 day boot camp deal! It last for 6-8 weeks including your nursing home hands on clinicals before you go for the state exam in Lakeland/Plant City.
