choosing a campus and picking nursing classes at broward college

i heard that north campus is much better but i live so darn close to central,, is north really that far.
any comments????
also, are you placed in a group and that will be your group for the next 18 months or do you pick your classes as if you were just going to school regular??
what time does all classes end per day.
i thought it was a program where you go to school and it ends like 12 noon or so, but after reading it looks like you can go to school anytime, jut pick your classes

from what i heard when i was in BC, central was the most strictest of all campuses. they made the rules, and if you deviated from the rules they would send you home.

like, as a student you wear white shoes to clinicals-- but if you have a clinical day at the school, why are white shoes so important?

in south campus we wore our regular clothes during clinical day at the school,

for the next 18 months you will be with the same people-- assuming no-one fails--

and you do pick your classes as if you are choosing regular classes-- it's just that you don't have plenty of teachers to chose from, exept in clinicals, that there are several groups, but the lecture, you basically only have one choice.

the classes are usually from 9am-12noon on mondays and fridays. and pharmacology-- the time varies per semester, and math varies per semester as well. clinical days depends as well-- some teachers let you leave early and some stay about 8-9 hours at the clinical site.

I wish you the best in your study career at BC, and just study hard, and get that book or borrow it from the library, student nursing success by nugent--- it would be a really good read before you get to the program just start preparing you for the critical type questions-- they explain it very well.

amazon has really cheap used books, i just got my fiu books from there. i'm doing the RN-BSN

yes!!! that's it!!

I used that book in the beginning, when i had to get my mind started on critical thinking. it's a really good book to read before you start nursing school.. even if it doesn't make sense.

and when you do your first exam, you will see how helpful the book is---

the one you showed on your post is from 2000, but it is good, and critical thinking is critical thinking no matter what the year is.

Also Nugent has another book, Fundamental Success thats good, too. I've used both.

Just to add something about being with the same people throughout the program, at least at north campus, there is a time where you may be separated, but eventually end up back with your group. During the specialties, which are OB, Peds, and Pysch, which start at the end of second semester, you can choose which one of the three you want to start with. So not everyone will be able to be in the same class or want to be in the same class to start off with. But during Ortho/Neuro, everyone comes back together and it stays that way for the rest of the program. Not sure how it was for south, so I just wanted to add. :)

i think because north campus has the highest amount of students!

i remember doing the last semester nclex-rn review class, and north campus has this huge classroom with two doors--

south campus is smaller, our classes are in portable classrooms

Guess they've changed the uniform rules at South. Now we have to wear our uniforms during all clinical days whether on campus or not and depending on your instructor there are certain things that are not allowed:

YOUR HAIR CANNOT TOUCH YOUR COLLAR

NO FLARE LEG OR PANTS WITH SLITS

NO PANTY LINES

PANTS CANNOT BE TIGHT

NO HAIR PINS, BARRETTS, BOWS THAT DO NOT MATCH YOUR HAIR COLOR

HAIR COLOR MUST BE NATURAL

NO SHOES WITH HOLES (I.E. KLOGS WITH HOLES)

ALL TATTOOS MUST BE COVERED WITH THAT SPECIAL MAKEUP

I mean literally this instructor made us line up like we were in the army and check us out one by one. Even made us bend down to make sure no thongs/panties were to be seen. It's kinda funny now when I look back. She's a little less strict about it now for some reason. I guess it was part of her weed out process.

wow!!!

I always wore regular clothing. when i was in Nova Southeastern university, they had a casual business attire dress code, so when i went to BC it was a lot more laid back.
