I thought I'd just vent my situation; thanks for reading!

I've been traveling for 3 years and have been wanting to get a staff position in the state where I have had most my traveling jobs. I finally got one today! However, in the meantime, I was also offered an amazing travel job with REALLY good pay. I can't have it both ways; the start date for the staff position is two weeks after the travel job start date. The manager at the staff position cannot wait for my travel position to end (rightly so)

I have weighed the pros and cons but still am stuck-any advice is appreciated! Should I go for the $ or the stability of the staff job?!?

This is completely your call. Do you need stability? Ask people who know you.

depends on your personal life and finances. Do you need or want the extra $$ and better pay? And think about your personal life - are you ready to settle down or continue your independence and making new friends while traveling? The answer to your question is the answer to these questions. All being even, I'd go with the money - who knows what the future holds and when/what you'll need it for.

After the $$ travel assignment will you have more travel work? My concern would be giving up the stability of a full time job in the city I wanted for a short term $$ bonus.

In my area traveling jobs are tighter and harder to get as hospitals are tightening their budgets. If this is not the case for you then you really have a tough one.

Sounds like you love traveling.....if so why would you want a staff job..what will happen after 13 weeks and you are ready for new adventure or new scenery...Yeah I know staff jobs are tight but with travel you learn new things and never get penalized for moving on or taking a month off between jobs. I find travel jobs are more plentiful then ever. I am getting calls every week and I only travelled once in 2003!! But you have to decide your chosen lifestyle carefully. Travel nursing makes you a different kind of person then someone who has had stability of a hospital in one place for years.

One thing if you went staff and hated it you could always resign and go back to travel.. I know this is not idea and soem would be horrified at this suggestion ..but nowadays it is each person for themselves. Loyalty with employers is few and far between.
